From the USDA Forest Service comes the Urban Forestry Edition of The Natural Inquirer. Developed for science classes grades 5 - 9, The Natural Inquirer contains articles describing environmental and natural resource research in an interesting and user-friendly format.

Dr. Dave Nowak, Project Leader with the USDA Forest Service, Northeastern Research Station in Syracuse, NY, presented a workshop on May 25, 2005 in Columbia - "Understanding the Effects of the Urban Forest on Air and Water Quality". Sponsored by DHEC's Environmental Quality Control Education and Outreach, the SC Forestry
Commission, and SCUCFC, Dr. Nowaks presentation clarified the benefits of the urban forest as related to regulatory
efforts of air and water quality.
